You provide support to the Technical & Operations Department in solving problems and with a view to preventing incidents or reducing their impact.

Your profile

You have at least 5 years of experience in managing ICT projects and are familiar with working according to Agile development methods.
Knowledge of the operation of emergency and security services is an advantage.
Knowledge of French as a second language is necessary, and you have a good knowledge of technical English.

What will be your challenges?

  • You have the main responsibility for application stability: monitoring, managing, analyzing, testing and controlling applications;
  • You will identify application problems (both commercial and technical) based on incidents or malfunctions highlighted by users and you will be responsible for their resolution;
  • You are responsible for small functionality changes, which have a limited and risk-free impact;
  • You define the user stories to be integrated in the backlog shared with the Change teams;
  • You will work closely with Change analysts and developers working in the same application area;
  • You share the planning and status of current actions with the Change teams on a permanent basis; 
  • You launch requests for adjustments in case of abnormal behavior observed in the application (frequent errors corrected manually or by tedious alternatives), disappointing performance, opportunities for improvement in terms of process planning; 
  • You communicate with management, the department manager and key business users about ongoing analyses and solutions;
  • You ensure the IT development for the user story, while following the same tools and standards as the Change teams;
  • You will test the developed program in order to be able to respond to the desired improvements or adjustments;
  • You promote the code in the different environments (test and acceptance) in coordination with the testers. You initiate and document the necessary Requests for Change (RfC);
  • You maintain the functional and technical documentation of the application, while taking into account the impact of current developments (documentation shared with the 'Change' teams, but also with user support);

Are you the ideal candidate?

Minimum requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Prior experience in application development in one of the following technologies: .NET, Link, 3GL, 4GL, IJX design, Visual Basic, Java etc..; to be able to locate the bug in the application so it can be resolved by the development team
  • Knowledge of Prince II and Agile methodologies. You are open to play an active role in the implementation of the Agile method within the team;
  • Fluency in French and/or Dutch, both written and spoken;
  • Good knowledge of IT delivery for your domain: applications, dependencies, data models, specific programming languages;
  • Helicopter view, analytical mind and ability to synthesize;
  • Ability to evolve alone in a constantly changing environment;
  • Team spirit, creative, initiator and responsible;
  • Desire to constantly progress, passion for continuous learning for oneself, for others and for the organization;
  • Follow the technical evolutions in the sector as well as in the field of analysis and programming techniques.

For one of the biggest international IT company we are looking for motivated/passionate Senior Java Developers. They are known for delivering consultancy services to their clients and partners active in different sectors.

The user management is the application which it regulates user management of various applications of the Flemish government (VO). It is in the IDM application that administrators, appointed by the VO, can have rights for the people who work for them. IDM sends the data information forward to various resources which in turn control access control (including ACM).

The biggest challenge within the project is the migration of the current legacy architecture to the virtual cloud architecture in AWS. Furthermore, the customer also has composed a whole roadmap with new business functionalities intended for implementation in the application.

The IDM development team is a DEVOPS team that works in an agile SCRUM way. Different facets such as pair-programming and code reviews are commonplace within the team.

The developer will have to be able to work independently in a very complex environment with focus on the transformation of old architecture and old business concepts to new separate components in the cloud where the existing business concepts are being reformed into a more flexible form with an eye for security (secure programming), stability, flexibility and performance of the application.

Frontend knowledge is a plus, but most of the work is backend related. Knowledge of the AWS platform, infrastructure as code, … is a major advantage.
