IT Project Manager – International Defense & Security Environment

We’re looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to lead and drive key projects in a high-stakes international environment. Reporting to the Lead Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the full project lifecycle, from planning and execution to risk management and reporting.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

🔹 Lead IT projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal project management policies.
🔹 Develop business cases that include procurement strategies, risk assessments, and benefit analyses to secure stakeholder approval and funding.
🔹 Ensure high-quality execution, coordination, and quality assurance to deliver successful solutions.
🔹 Understand client needs, analyze data, and propose solutions to meet project objectives.
🔹 Manage project scope, timeline, budget, and quality, providing regular updates on progress.
🔹 Allocate resources effectively to meet key milestones and make necessary adjustments when required.
🔹 Monitor project KPIs, risks, and issues, ensuring timely corrective actions.
🔹 Oversee project cash flow and contribute to financial planning & forecasting.
🔹 Supervise teams (either directly or in a matrix structure) and provide leadership in project execution.
🔹 Lead meetings & coordinate with stakeholders, both internally and externally.
🔹 Maintain clear and regular communication with all parties involved in the project.
🔹 Ensure project documentation is up to date, accurate, and of the highest quality.
🔹 Support business planning and forecasting at both annual and multi-year levels.

As part of your role, you may be required to deputize for senior management and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

What You Bring to the Table:

Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field + 3 years of project management experience (or at least 10 years of progressive experience in project-related roles if no degree).
  • A recognized Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP) or equivalent proven expertise.
  • Recent hands-on experience in large-scale IT project management (at least 3 years).

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong background in IT systems, network design, and communications technologies, ideally within a defense, security, or government-related environment.
  • Understanding of modern IT infrastructure, deployable communication systems, and industry standards.
  • Ability to navigate complex procurement and acquisition processes within regulated environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

⭐ Proven leadership experience in managing project teams within IT acquisition projects.
⭐ ITIL Foundation Certification.
⭐ Strong engineering background and technical leadership experience.
⭐ Familiarity with Project Management automation tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
⭐ Prior experience working in an international government, security, or defense environment.
⭐ Solid knowledge of procurement policies and large-scale IT project governance.
